Light at the Edge

AVAILABLE SOON!

This work captures scenes in the suburbs that give the viewer just enough information to start their own narrative. In several instances this spark is the lit window in a house or building. Many of these images also explore the feelings of loneliness and isolation that have been experienced by many during these recent difficult years. Often the rough exteriors of the buildings go hand-in-hand with the problem of leaving things un-attended, or letting things fall into disrepair during the pandemic.

These images were made during the pre-dawn hours between 3am and 6am, when the “night-owls” are ending their day and the “early-birds” are just getting started. On the edge between different lifestyles and routines.

The period between night and dawn in the suburbs comes with its own unique experience. The smells. The sounds. Racoons. Stray cats. Sirens. Arguments about the phone bill. Sobbing behind the curtains. Even though the viewer can’t “see” it, all of that is still there in each image, waiting for them to complete the narrative.
